50 Million Rides
Waymo announced this week that its Waymo One commercial robotaxi service has completed 50 million paid rides since launching commercially in 2020, with 35 million of those rides completed in 2025-2026 as the fleet has scaled rapidly. The service currently operates across San Francisco, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Austin, and (as announced separately) will launch in Atlanta and Dallas.
Safety Data
Waymo published updated safety data covering 50.1 million miles of commercial driving. The data shows a crash rate of 2.1 per million miles for crashes involving contact with other vehicles or road users. The US national average for all vehicles is approximately 6.5 crashes per million miles in comparable urban environments. Crashes resulting in injury occurred at a rate of 0.26 per million miles versus a human baseline of approximately 1.1 per million miles.
Fleet Scale
Waymo operates approximately 900 Jaguar I-Pace vehicles in commercial service, with a pending order for several thousand Zeekr RT vehicles (a purpose-built robotaxi from the Chinese EV manufacturer) that will begin delivery in late 2026. The Zeekr RT is built from the ground up for robotaxi use with roof-mounted sensor pods, simplified interiors, and extended-duty-cycle components.
The Revenue Picture
Alphabet does not disclose Waymo's revenue separately. Analysts estimate Waymo generated approximately $1.2 billion in revenue in 2025 at current ride counts and average fares of roughly $24 per ride. Profitability remains distant as the company continues heavy R&D and fleet expansion investment.
