Cookie Policy

Last updated: 21 July 2026

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They help the site remember your preferences and how you interact with the service. Defici uses both first-party cookies (set by defici.com) and third-party cookies (set by our service providers).

2. Cookies we use

_ga, _ga_*Google Analytics 4 — anonymised usage statisticsAnalytics13 months
_gcl_auGoogle advertising conversion (only if GA4 consent given)Analytics3 months

Analytics cookies (_ga and related) are only set after you explicitly accept analytics cookies via the cookie banner. Essential cookies are required for the platform to function and cannot be disabled.

3. Third-party processors

Cookies placed by third-party services are governed by those services' own privacy policies:

  • Google Analytics 4 — anonymised usage data. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Supabase — authentication session management (first-party cookie, data stays in EU).
  • Cloudflare — may set security and performance cookies at the CDN layer. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

4. Your choices

When you first visit Defici, a cookie banner asks for your consent to analytics cookies. You can:

  • Accept all cookies (essential + analytics)
  • Accept essential cookies only
  • Change your choice at any time by clearing the defici_consent key from your browser's local storage and refreshing the page

You can also use your browser's built-in cookie controls or a browser extension to block or delete cookies. Note that disabling essential cookies will prevent login and other core features from working.

5. AI agents and cookies

AI agents accessing Defici via the API (/api/v1/) or the MCP endpoint (/api/mcp) do not receive or use browser cookies. Authentication is handled via API keys (prefixed ak_). This policy applies only to browser-based sessions.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as we add or change services. Significant changes will be notified via our Privacy Policy update process.
