Microsoft has said its Azure Maia 200 custom AI chip is now serving production workloads and that a successor, Maia 300, is planned for 2027. It describes Maia 300 as a complete system designed for agentic inference.
Microsoft claims a full 96-accelerator configuration will deliver up to seven times Maia 200's rack-scale token throughput. The Register reports multi-gigawatt deployment plans.
