Copilot+ Update Delivers New Capabilities
Microsoft released a significant feature update for Copilot+ PCs (devices equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon X, Intel Core Ultra 200V, or AMD Ryzen AI 300 series processors) this week, adding capabilities including real-time translation, an enhanced GitHub Copilot workspace agent, and a revised Recall feature with stronger privacy controls.
Real-Time Translation
The flagship new feature translates spoken audio in Teams meetings into 12 languages in real-time, with captions displayed on-screen. Translation occurs entirely on-device using the Neural Processing Unit, meaning audio never leaves the user's machine. Supported translation pairs include English ↔ German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Swedish, and Dutch.
Developer Tools
GitHub Copilot Workspace, the multi-file AI coding agent, is now integrated directly into Windows for Copilot+ PCs with a dedicated taskbar entry and hotkey. The agent can create, edit, and run code across multiple files, with terminal access and automatic error correction loops. Microsoft reports that developers using Workspace on Copilot+ hardware experience 40% faster iteration due to on-device inference for context-building tasks.
Recall Privacy Redesign
Recall, Microsoft's AI-powered screen history feature, was redesigned after its controversial initial release. The updated version defaults to opt-in (not opt-in by default), stores snapshots in a user-owned encrypted vault, and excludes private browsing windows, banking sites, and other sensitive contexts automatically. Recall data is never uploaded to Microsoft's servers.
