Fervo Energy has started selling electricity from its Cape Station project in Utah, the first time a utility-scale, next-generation geothermal facility has done so anywhere in the world, according to IEEE Spectrum, which republished a Canary Media report.
An initial 33-megawatt unit was switched on and is being ramped up, with commercial operations to supply Shell Energy in California. The project costs $2 billion and is planned to reach 500 MW.
